I got heavily into acanthus and old ship heads for a while and this is one of the better drawings that came out of it. although...now that i'm looking at it there's some serious problems...anyway..this was a popular layout of acanthus for ship heads and there is still a few variations that survive that i've based this off of. they all look kinda like this in the big swirls and directions but the details and small swirls are all what give the every piece it's character. some are very simple and some complex like this one. I need to carve it in wood and i keep having fantasies about tying sculptures to rope and letting them be in the ocean for a year to give them that sunken ship look....yeah i know it wouldn't work..but maybe a small salt water fish tank with simulated waves?
